"Power of Siberia-2" Becomes "Power of Baikal": Preparations for Gas Pipeline Construction Enter Final Stage

Capacity - 50 billion cubic meters per year; length - 6700 km, of which 2700 km are in Russia

Minister of Energy Sergey Tsivilev announced at the Eastern Economic Forum that the "Power of Siberia-2" gas pipeline has been renamed "Power of Baikal" and is in the final stage of preparation for construction. RIA "Novosti" reports this.

According to Tsivilev, the renaming of the project was proposed by Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Project parameters: supply of 50 billion cubic meters of gas per year for 30 years, a total length of 6700 km, of which 2700 km will pass through Russian territory. The existing "Power of Siberia" gas pipeline is already operating at full capacity.

In September 2025, Gazprom and Chinese CNPC signed a legally binding memorandum on the construction of the "Power of Siberia – 2" gas pipeline and the "Soyuz – Vostok" transit gas pipeline through Mongolia.
