Russian engineers have developed a miniature personal drone weighing up to 2 kg to intercept an enemy kamikaze drone at a safe distance from the soldier. This is stated in the patent materials.
The inventive task is to develop a small UAV for reliable protection of a soldier or operator on the ground, when it is necessary to ensure their protection from the damaging effects of an enemy UAV explosion.
The interceptor drone will have a folding design for easy carrying, and a handle for launching will be placed on the frame. The patent states that it will be equipped with kinetic weapons (the damaging effect is achieved due to the energy of a moving solid body).
In particular, it is proposed to use an 18×45T "Osa" type munition weighing 25 g. Its kinetic energy is 91 J, which is enough to damage the plastic casing of an enemy drone from a distance of several meters.
The scheme for using a personal drone is as follows. The operator detects an enemy drone and directs the interceptor towards it. The drone must be above the target at firing range. After using the ammunition, the UAV returns to the operator.
The product can also be used to protect military equipment and as a mother drone with a small drone drop system.
