Unmanned trucks in Russia set a record: 20 million kilometers without a single accident

Unmanned trucks have traveled over 20 million kilometers on federal highways in Russia since the beginning of their operation in 2023 without a single accident, reported JSC "GLONASS". The statistics cover the mileage of robot trucks on the M-11 "Neva", M-4 "Don", CKAD, and M-12 "Vostok" highways. 121 autonomous trucks from Yandex, Navio, and KamAZ companies are involved in the transportation.

The data is recorded by an identification platform based on the state information system "ERA-GLONASS". As Alexey Raykevich, CEO of JSC "GLONASS", noted, in addition to the accident-free mileage counter, new functions are being tested and prepared for implementation in cooperation with robot truck developers – protection against cyberattacks and a mechanism for centralized forced stopping of movement in emergency situations. Thanks to the platform, the indicator of the proportion of mileage in fully autonomous mode without operator intervention will become available.

According to Andrey Nikitin, head of the Ministry of Transport, the public mileage counter allows real-time assessment of the readiness of autonomous transport for scaling across the country. Unmanned trucks are not just testing technologies, but also transport commercial goods daily, increasing logistics efficiency.
