United Engine Corporation has developed a new EU-650 power unit based on the VK-650V gas turbine turboshaft engine. The characteristics of the power plant have become known.
According to ODK, the localization level is currently 80%.
Also, the nominal power of the EU-650 is 400 kW, and the unit received liquid cooling for the generator.
The corporation stated a specific fuel consumption of 0.369 kg/kWh. In this class of similar units, there is the British Rolls-Royce Turbogenerator with an estimated consumption of 0.320 kg/kWh. However, the EU-650 outperforms it in dry weight – 185 kg versus 250 kg.
Earlier it became known that the initial service life of the basic VK-650V in the certificate is only 74 hours.
Continuous operation at 590 hp is limited to 20 minutes, while international requirements suggest up to 60 minutes. The power unit will be used on new Ka-226 helicopters and import-substituted "Ansats".
