The anniversary three-section electric locomotive 3ES5K "Ermak" became the 1700th machine of this type produced for RZD. The locomotive was manufactured by the Novocherkassk Electric Locomotive Plant, part of Transmashholding.
"Ermaks" are used for heavy-haul transportation on the Eastern Polygon and form the basis of the fleet of 12 locomotive depots of seven RZD traction directorates.
New capabilities of the locomotives were confirmed in the summer of 2026 during tests on the Mezhdurechensk — Karymskaya route. 4ES5K electric locomotives were able to pull freight trains weighing 8000 tons. This is 900 tons more than the previous maximum norm.
The "Ermak" family includes two-, three-, and four-section electric locomotives 2ES5K, 3ES5K, and 4ES5K. All modifications are included in the Register of Russian Industrial Products of the Ministry of Industry and Trade.
The anniversary 3ES5K is intended for operation in the Bogotol depot of the Krasnoyarsk Traction Directorate.
