On the morning of August 24, the UVB-76 radio station interrupted its usual signal three times and transmitted four code words – "mylovar" (soap maker), "dolzhnostnoy" (official), "belokury" (blond), and "shketoring". The messages were broadcast within less than two hours, from 06:08 to 08:00 Moscow time.
The first session took place at 06:08. The words "mylovar" and "dolzhnostnoy" were broadcast simultaneously, after which the station returned to its usual background signal. At 07:01, a second message followed with the word "belokury". Fifty-nine minutes later, at 08:00, the word "shketoring" appeared on air.
The activity of the radio station is monitored by the "UVB-76 Logs" community, which publishes recordings and transcripts of messages. Monitoring shows that each broadcast was accompanied by groups of letters and numbers, characteristic of UVB-76 transmissions.
UVB-76 operates on shortwaves and transmits a monotonous, repetitive signal for most of the time. Due to its characteristic sound, radio amateurs call the radio station "The Buzzer," and on the internet, it has been dubbed "The Doomsday Radio." The content and purpose of the coded messages are not officially disclosed.
The last time the station transmitted new messages before this was on August 20. At that time, several radiograms were recorded, including the words "pereshib" (interrupted), "blizhayshiy" (nearest), "fleropir" (fleropir), and "obluchenie" (irradiation).
