A training center for specialists working with R6 engines will open in September at the Tutayev Motor Plant (TMZ, a subsidiary of KAMAZ). The need for it arose due to the supply of these engines to the St. Petersburg Tractor Plant's assembly line — service engineers will have to maintain equipment in the fields, and for this, they need to thoroughly understand the unit's design.
The center was located in the mechanical assembly shop, right next to the assembly and testing section. A classroom with visual aids is equipped for theory. For practice, there are two stands with engine mock-ups: one allows studying the installation of the crankshaft and connecting rod-piston group, the second — the assembly of the entire engine. All parts are laid out on shelves, labeled, and there are tools and assembly tables.
For the plant, this is also a way to reduce the adaptation time of young specialists in production. It is planned that training at the center will become part of a continuous personnel training system for agricultural machinery manufacturing.
What are R6 engines?
R6 engines are a family of in-line 6-cylinder diesel engines developed by TMZ. They are characterized by high fuel efficiency, reliability, and comply with the Euro-5 environmental class. R6 models are available in two versions: naturally aspirated (R6A) with 250 hp and turbocharged (R6T) with 300 hp. In 2025, TMZ doubled the production of R6 engines compared to 2024.
