"Kalashnikov" Modernized "Vintorez" and "Val": Barrel Lifespan Doubled

The concern's engineers also updated the equipment of "Vikhr" and "Veresk" and improved their ergonomics

"Kalashnikov" publicly showcased modernized samples of special small arms for the first time. The VSS "Vintorez", AS "Val", SR3M "Vikhr", and SR2M "Veresk" received updates. The developers modified the designs based on operational experience and feedback from military personnel. The main improvements focused on lifespan, ergonomics, and the ability to install additional equipment.

The barrel lifespan of "Vintorez" and "Val" has been approximately doubled. Both models also received updated stocks, magazines, and interfaces for installing additional equipment.

The SR3M "Vikhr" received a telescopic stock, and its design now allows for the installation of a suppressor and an optical sight. The SR2M "Veresk" submachine gun had its stock changed and a front grip added.

"Vintorez" and "Val" belong to a family of special systems chambered in 9×39 mm. The VSS was created as a special sniper rifle with silent firing capability, and the AS "Val" became the automatic version of this complex. Later, the compact SR3 "Vikhr" appeared on the same basis. "Veresk" represents a different design line and uses the 9×21 mm cartridge.

According to the concern's engineers, the next modernization of existing models will require not only improving the convenience and lifespan of the weapons. It will involve the need to increase the destructive effect against protected targets, taking into account the development of modern personal protective equipment.
