Igor Pristupa, a student of the Advanced Engineering School of the Moscow Aviation Institute (MAI), participated in the improvement of the promising single-engine 5th-generation Su-75 fighter. The young man spoke about what exactly he did during his practical training at the KnAAZ enterprise in Komsomolsk-on-Amur.
The student was sent to the machining production shop, where parts are manufactured at the request of design bureaus from Moscow to improve aircraft.
I managed to participate in the improvement of the Su-57 and the new promising Checkmate fighter. But most of all, I am proud of my work for the import-substituted SJ-100.
Pristupa added that he was even allowed to print a sketch of a part for the SJ-100 without markings and keep it as a souvenir.
Nikolai Chikunov, a design engineer at the A.I. Mikoyan Design Bureau, explained to "Pervy Tekhnichesky" that the Su-75 Checkmate may face limitations due to its aerodynamic design and thrust-to-weight ratio.
He also pointed out the shortcomings of the air intake, which will have to be compensated for by control surfaces and a thrust vectoring system.
