D-30EU Gas Turbine Engine Brought Back to Life: The Restored Unit Undergoes Crucial Testing

KMZ specialists are checking its operation and main parameters on a special test bench before further operation

Specialists from "Dieselzipsersvis" (KMZ) have begun testing the D-30EU gas turbine engine after its repair. The unit has been placed on a special test bench, where its operation and main parameters are being checked before it is returned to service.

For the D-30EU, this stage is particularly important: after repair, it is necessary to confirm that the engine operates stably in all specified modes and meets the required parameters. On the test bench, specialists record the main characteristics and indicators of the engine, after which the results are used to assess its readiness for further operation.

The D-30EU, manufactured by JSC "ODK-Aviadvigatel", is used in industrial power engineering as a drive for electric generators and gas compressors.

For the enterprise itself, the tests become a factual verification of the repair result. If the unit successfully passes the bench tests, the next step is its return to the energy equipment and further operation under operational load.

KMZ's Experience in Repairing D-30EU Family Gas Turbine Engines

We have already reported on Dieselzipsersvis's work with engines of this family: in March 2026, the enterprise began repairing the D-30EU-6, and in July of the same year, it undertook another unit of this model as part of service contracts for fuel and energy complex facilities. The D-30EU-6 is an industrial version of the aviation D-30 of the third series with a power of up to 6 MW and is used in gas pumping units and gas turbine power plants.

Bench tests after overhaul are a mandatory stage in the enterprise's practice. Other engines underwent a similar procedure: in particular, the D-336-2T successfully completed the full test program, confirming its output to a nominal power of 6.3 MW and readiness for operation on main pipelines. This approach allows confirming the unit's characteristics and reducing the risks of unscheduled shutdowns at remote industrial facilities.
