Gomel Foundry Plant (GLZ) "Tsentrolit" (part of "MTZ-Holding") will set up the production of castings (a blank obtained by pouring molten metal into a mold) for the Minsk Automobile Plant (OAO "MAZ"). This was stated by the head of the enterprise's marketing department, Nikolai Artemenko.
Negotiations preceding the conclusion of the contract lasted about five years. Our main competitors were specialists from China.
According to the agreement, "Tsentrolit" will manufacture parts for the mold, which will be used to stamp elements of MAZ truck cabs until the end of 2026. This involves four castings weighing from 7.7 to 17 tons. The project cost is more than 700 thousand rubles.
The most difficult part of manufacturing castings is creating a matrix of complex geometric shape, Artemenko explained. Gomel specialists will use low-alloy nickel-containing cast iron, which has high heat resistance and wear resistance. The material is capable of withstanding extreme temperatures and pressure, he concluded.
