Tens of thousands of Russian websites, including banking ones, may start opening with errors after international security certificates are revoked. There is no direct threat to clients' money, but browser warnings can provoke a new wave of phishing, Rosselkhozbank reported.
According to preliminary estimates by analysts, the problem has affected tens of thousands of Russian resources. Familiar pages may open with a browser warning or work unusually – scammers can take advantage of this.
Users may be redirected to copies of official websites, shown fake notifications, or offered to install a “necessary” certificate. The risk arises when a person leaves official channels and independently transmits data or confirms an operation.
Phishing remains one of the most widespread digital threats. According to the bank, at certain periods, it accounted for almost 70% of incidents, and in 2025, more than 100,000 fraudulent resources were blocked in Russia – three times more than the previous year.
Users are advised to access services through official applications, pre-verified addresses, or saved bookmarks, and not to click on links from unexpected notifications.
