Rostselmash is testing the WL 530 front-end loader. The machine is equipped with a 6-cylinder diesel engine with a power of 218 hp (160 kW), a volume of 6.6 liters, with a Common Rail system, turbocharging, and an intercooler for the boost air. According to the manufacturer's concept, it should combine high efficiency with low operating costs.
A key feature of the new product is a hydromechanical transmission with power shift (PowerShift), consisting of a torque converter and a multi-stage gearbox with multi-disc friction clutches. Four forward and three reverse gears allow maintaining crankshaft speed, ensuring fuel economy. Maximum speed is 36 km/h forward and 21 km/h backward.
The loader is equipped with axles with disc brakes in an oil bath with an automatic clearance compensation system. The front axle can be equipped with a self-locking differential, and the oscillation angle of the rear axle of ±12° ensures maneuverability even on uneven surfaces, Rostselmash claims.
The new product is designed to replace foreign manufacturers' equipment on the Russian market. Chinese brands LiuGong, XCMG, SDLG, and Longking are actively used in Russia, but often fall short in adapting to local conditions and service support. European Liebherr, Volvo, and Caterpillar belong to the premium segment, but are many times more expensive and difficult to access due to sanctions. Japanese Komatsu and Kawasaki are traditionally strong players in this segment, but their supplies to Russia have practically stopped. Creating its own machine will allow abandoning expensive imports, reducing logistics and service costs, and ensuring independence from foreign suppliers.
