Russian Railways conducted a test trip with an android conductor named Volodya. This happened on July 31 on train No. 768 on the Moscow — St. Petersburg route. Details were revealed by the company's press service.
The robot performed the standard duties of a conductor: greeting passengers upon boarding, checking documents and tickets, and helping with seat arrangements. A separate item on the program was wine tasting in the bistro car — which the robot also handled successfully.
Russian Railways positions Volodya as the world's first robot conductor for a high-speed train of this class. Passengers received the android with curiosity: they chatted, smiled, and took photos for memory.
Plans for Volodya's transition to regular flights have not yet been announced — the decision will depend on the results of the trial period. Earlier, Russian Railways already tested robodogs — four-legged robots for patrolling and monitoring infrastructure.
