Boarding and fare payment in urban transport and taxis will be available via NFC and the state biometric system, provided the carrier has the technical capability. This is stated in the order of the Russian Ministry of Transport on new passenger transportation rules, which will come into force on September 1, 2026.
The document also provides for the possibility for passengers to confirm their travel benefits on public transport via the "Max" messenger. The department obliges carriers to indicate information about the comfort level of the trip on the ticket, including the presence of air conditioning, a toilet, luggage racks, etc. This information must be available before purchasing a ticket, for example, in a mobile application or on the company's official website.
Inside urban transport or taxis, information about the carrier (legal entity or individual entrepreneur), driver, and contact number must be displayed. The new rules also include a provision for waiting rooms and restrooms. Passengers have the right to use them 1 hour before departure and after arrival. The innovation will be valid until September 1, 2032.
