A new universal lathe of domestic production has started operation at the Y. A. Gagarin Aircraft Plant in Komsomolsk-on-Amur. This equipment was installed in the workshop where pneumatic fuel system units are manufactured. The machine became part of an initiative to modernize the plant's machine park, which also produces Su-57 fighters.
The machine was manufactured by the Penza company "StankoMashStroy". The manufacturer reports that the equipment has almost one hundred percent localization and is produced entirely in Russia – from the manufacture of blanks to final assembly. The development used proven technical solutions of Soviet universal lathes, which were supplemented with modern unit designs and new materials.
Ildar Osmanov, a representative of the manufacturing company, noted that the new model is easy to learn, has high structural strength, and is designed for a long service life. According to him, the developers also redesigned the internal layout to facilitate equipment maintenance and continue to take into account the suggestions of the company's employees regarding the ergonomics of the controls.
Turner Maxim Yakubenko noted that mastering the new equipment did not cause difficulties. According to him, previously a machine that was significantly older than the operator himself was used in the workshop, so the transition to a modern Russian machine significantly increased work comfort.
