"Transneft" subsidiary to receive ROS2406 project oil skimmer, under construction in Nizhny Novgorod region

The vessel was laid down at the R-Flot Group shipyard in early July

The ROS2406 project oil skimmer vessel, being built by Nizhny Novgorod shipbuilders at the facilities of the R-Flot Group of Companies (GC), will become part of the fleet of JSC "Transneft-Privolga" (a subsidiary of "Transneft"). This was reported by the GC's press service.

The ROS2406 project was developed by engineers of the R-Flot.Design Design Bureau. The vessel is designed for the localization and elimination of oil product spills. The oil skimmer is equipped with skimmers (devices for collecting oil-water mixture), pumps, and tanks for storing the mixture. Boom barriers will be used to isolate spills.

Characteristics of ROS2406 project vessels:

  • Length — 23.2 m
  • Width — 6 m
  • Draft — 1.8 m
  • Speed — 12 knots

The new oil skimmer was laid down in the Nizhny Novgorod region in July 2026. R-Flot specialists previously built two boom-laying vessels, "Artyom Averyanov" and "Yury Makartsev" (project RBT2006), for "Transneft-Privolga" company.
