Future designers of the Russian aircraft engine PD-8 began training long before their first job. Students of the "Wings of Rostec" program gain access to real engineering tasks at the ODK-Saturn enterprise starting from their third year.
Among the tasks are creating 3D models of parts, issuing drawings, developing technological documentation, and finding new solutions for the production of complex components.
Students get acquainted with the stages of development and production of aircraft power plants, and some of them are already working on projects related to modern material processing technologies.
In total, 25 critical technologies were created for the power plant, 17 of which were developed for the first time. The PD-8 passed dozens of complex tests during certification.
Recall that the PD-8 will be useful for new Superjets and the re-engining of Be-200 amphibians. There were also rumors that this power plant would become the base for a new business jet being built in Ulyanovsk based on the SJ-100.
