To help doctors: medical devices with AI to be developed in Russia by 2030

By 2030, Russia will have its own medical devices with artificial intelligence, which will take on some of the tasks of early disease diagnosis. As TASS reported, the government has approved a plan for the development of specialized software and equipment.

The Ministry of Science and Higher Education, the Ministry of Health, the FMBA, and Rospotrebnadzor are responsible for the project's implementation. Within four years, they are to create a line of medical devices where AI algorithms will play a key role. The supervisory agencies are expected to submit their first progress report by the end of 2027, and then the Cabinet of Ministers intends to monitor the situation annually.

Today, the market for smart diagnostics is shared by Western companies. The introduction of Russian AI software should reduce dependence on imported equipment and speed up the processing of images and analyses in state clinics. The doctor will receive a digital assistant capable of highlighting pathology that is easy to miss during a routine examination.
