Russia has developed the most miniature ground control station for FPV drones, which servicemen have already dubbed the "pocket GCS." As "Dron Force Aero," the developing company, told TASS, there are no analogues among domestic products of such small dimensions yet.
The secret to its range lies in frequency flexibility and a powerful amplifier. The control range covers from 360 to 1020 MHz and from 1800 to 2700 MHz with pseudo-random frequency hopping, which protects against electronic warfare systems. The video channel is additionally encrypted against interception, and if one frequency is suppressed, the automation switches to another. A 50 W power amplifier and an antenna raised to 4 meters (with the possibility of extending it up to 20 meters upon request) provide a stable signal up to 25 km without a repeater and over 35 km with a repeater. Deployment time is up to 7 minutes, and the entire structure fits into a protective case-suitcase.
Until now, small-sized FPV crews remained tied to bulky equipment that unmasked the operator's position. The "pocket GCS" works with any digital UAVs and allows the operator to take cover while remaining in contact with the drone for tens of kilometers.
