The share of solar and wind power plants in the country's energy system is expected to increase from the current 2.7% to 7.3% by 2042. This goal has been set as part of the development of renewable energy and ensuring Russia's technological sovereignty, following a meeting of the State Council Commission on Energy.
Russia already possesses significant technological solutions for energy storage systems, solar panels, and wind generation, which allows us to speak of a complete technological chain. However, the key task today is to move from individual prototypes to mass serial production of equipment, stated the commission chairman, Head of Yakutia, Aysen Nikolaev.
Special attention is being paid to the implementation of energy storage systems. In the United Energy System of the South, the construction of three storage facilities with a total capacity of up to 350 MW is already planned to cover the deficit in Crimea and Krasnodar Krai. The experience gained will help determine the actual parameters of their operation and integrate storage systems into regulatory frameworks.
The example of Yakutia demonstrates the effectiveness of hybrid energy complexes, Nikolaev stated: the share of solar generation in them reaches 35%, which allows for the complete shutdown of diesel units in summer. However, to replicate such solutions in other regions, special state support measures and a full package of domestic equipment are needed.
