A comprehensive simulator for training pilots of the newest Russian Mi-171A3 helicopter has started operating at the Ulan-Ude Aviation Plant training center. The system reproduces real operating conditions of the aircraft, including difficult weather, flights to offshore platforms, and crew actions in abnormal situations.
The simulator is designed as a full-fledged Mi-171A3 cockpit, placed inside a spherical capsule on a movable platform. The mechanism provides movement along all main axes — simulating roll, pitch, and yaw, creating the effect of a real flight.
The complex allows pilots to practice a wide range of scenarios, including equipment failure, emergency modes, and actions in non-standard operating conditions. This makes it possible to prepare the crew for complex situations without involving a real helicopter.
Russian Helicopters notes that training sessions on the fully movable simulator are counted as training flights on a real aircraft. The complex has received the highest Level V classification from the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), which confirms its compliance with the requirements for professional pilot training.
