The main production brake was removed at the MS-21 plant

Large aircraft parts will no longer need to be sent for processing to other cities

The Irkutsk Aviation Plant has completed commissioning work at its new galvanic production facility. The technological process has been fully automated, reported the OAK press service.

Previously, some large-sized parts for the MS-21 aircraft were transported to other cities for galvanic processing. Now, the equipment allows coatings to be applied to aluminum and titanium parts directly at the plant.

The commissioning of the new galvanizing facility is a continuation of the extensive work on the technical re-equipment of the plant.

IAZ added that galvanizing in aircraft construction is a critically important technological process. Engineers apply a thin coating to parts to protect against corrosion and increase wear resistance.

Test pilot of PAO "Yakovlev" Oleg Mutovin stated that Russian aircraft manufacturers have surpassed the world in competencies in creating the MS-21 aircraft. Earlier, Rostec CEO Sergey Chemezov announced that serial production of the MS-21-310 will begin in 2027.
