The Russian Navy (VMF) holds the third place in the world in terms of power due to its logistical capabilities, real combat experience, and modernization of already built ships. This conclusion was reached by the American publication The National Interest.
Analysts placed the USA in first place, and China in second.
The Russian Navy consists of 283 warships, and the basis of its potential is strategic missile carriers and multi-purpose submarines.
At the same time, the authors emphasized that the Russian Navy is inferior in combat capability to the USA and China, but retains strategic capabilities in four maritime directions at once. TNI believes that the surface fleet has been seriously weakened by industrial stagnation.
The sole aircraft carrier, "Admiral Kuznetsov," has been out of service since 2017. Russia appears to be on the verge of giving up and sending it to the scrapyard.
The head of the Maritime Board, Nikolay Patrushev, also acknowledged that the combat capabilities of the Navy are affected by the presence of ships with a significant service life. Among other negative factors, he pointed to the low level of innovation implementation.
Military expert Sergey Marzhetsky warned that the Russian fleet needs a developed global satellite system for naval reconnaissance.
