Two-shaft gas turbines GTD-8/RM produced by Rybinsk "ODK-Saturn" have operated for more than 990 thousand hours at thermal power plants. Power units based on the D-30KU engine from Il-76MD transport aircraft have been useful not only for military transportation, according to ODK infographics.
The total assigned resource of the 8 MW GTD-8/RM is 100 thousand hours, but they will have to be repaired every 25 thousand hours. The corporation also disclosed the number of turbines in the fleet – so far, 25 units have been built.
ODK designers found an ingenious solution for converting the D-30KU to gas – they changed the operating mode of the gas generator, refined the parameters of the flow path, and increased the gas temperature before the turbine.
Rostec also supplies GTD-8/RM for power supply to the largest Russian data centers and municipal facilities.
