The United Shipbuilding Corporation (USC) could offer its expertise for shipbuilding at shipyards in Indonesia. This was stated by Mikhail Afonyutin, Director of the Department of Sales and Contracting for Civil Shipbuilding at USC, during a thematic panel discussion at the "Innoprom-2026" exhibition in Yekaterinburg.
According to him, there is a demand in Indonesia for fleet modernization and logistics development, and Russia has extensive experience in serial shipbuilding. USC could offer practical solutions for transport and industrial tasks, taking into account cooperation with local enterprises.
Following the discussion, we can form working groups for detailed elaboration of potential projects, cooperation composition, localization requirements, and possible financing schemes.
The USC representative emphasized that Indonesia could be interested in high-speed passenger vessels, tugboats, rescue vessels, dry cargo ships and container ships, and fishing vessels. The corporation is open to dialogue and long-term cooperation with Jakarta, Afonyutin concluded.
In 2025, Russia and Indonesia signed a memorandum of cooperation in shipbuilding. Nikolai Patrushev, Chairman of the Russian Maritime Board, proposed creating a joint shipbuilding cluster in the Asian state.
