Indonesia should consider connecting to the Russian messenger Max as an alternative to the dominant Western platforms, Isriad Iman, an analyst at the Indonesian Center for Strategic and International Studies, told RIA Novosti.
Given Indonesia's high dependence on a limited number of foreign messengers, primarily WhatsApp*, connecting to new platforms such as Max could strengthen the country's digital resilience and expand the tools for government and public communication.
According to the analyst, Indonesian government agencies and regional authorities today actively use WhatsApp* for official purposes, but this platform is not suitable for working with public channels and mass dissemination of information.
Iman emphasized that Max is of interest precisely as an ecosystem solution. For Indonesia, connecting to such platforms would mean the emergence of an alternative to the existing technological dependence and the creation of a more balanced digital environment.
