Kazakhstan has tightened border crossing rules for passenger and freight vehicles amid efforts to combat unofficial fuel exports. Now, vehicles from neighboring states will be able to enter the republic no more than once a day.
The introduction of new restrictions was announced by Kazakhstan's Vice Minister of Energy, Kaiyrkhan Tutkyshbaev.
Currently, there is a measure in place according to which freight and passenger transport from border states can enter the territory of Kazakhstan no more than once a day.
Earlier, Kazakhstan had already banned the export of certain petroleum products by road, and in late June, Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov instructed to strengthen border control and prevent disruptions in gasoline supplies within the country.
The situation is developing against the backdrop of a fuel crisis in Russia. Since late May, restrictions on gasoline sales have been introduced in more than 30 regions of the country. The Kremlin confirmed that Russia is negotiating fuel imports, but potential suppliers were not officially named.
