Ural Airlines signed a memorandum with Airports of Regions Management Company on the construction of a technical center in Koltsovo for servicing domestic aircraft. The 10 billion ruble investment will be fully covered by the carrier's own funds. The paradox is that the company's entire current fleet consists of 51 Airbus aircraft, and a contract for the MC-21 has not even been concluded yet.
As the company's CEO, Kirill Skuratov, stated at "Innoprom-2026", the goal is to be fully prepared to receive new Russian aircraft. The first stage involves the purchase of 10 narrow-body MC-21s, after which the company will evaluate further modifications. There are no plans to abandon European airliners – they will be operated until the end of their service life. The new hangar, with an area of 15 thousand square meters, will be able to accommodate five aircraft simultaneously and will be equipped for repairing landing gear and avionics. The launch is scheduled for 2032–2033.
This is not the first technical project for the airline: its Uralairlines Technics division has already developed a kit for servicing Airbus A320 landing gear. In parallel, the carrier is expanding its route network: direct flights from Yekaterinburg to Delhi will start in October. The technical center will meet the need for basic maintenance of Russian aircraft, which will become critical for the entire Ural aviation industry by the beginning of the next decade.
