Citizens will be able to send their coordinates to the police with one click during a trip. As TASS reported, deputies sent a letter to the Ministry of Internal Affairs with a proposal to launch the “Safe Route” service based on the “Gosuslugi”, “MVD Rossii” applications and System-112. The authors of the initiative propose to give a person the opportunity to voluntarily enable geolocation broadcasting to emergency services when a threat arises.
The mechanics are simple: the user selects the mode “going home”, “taking a taxi” or “need help” and indicates the final point of the route with an approximate arrival time. If the person does not confirm the completion of the route on time or presses the panic button, the system will instantly transmit their coordinates to the police duty unit or the System-112 operator for immediate response. No calls or attempts to explain where you are – just one press is enough.
Currently, the main problem with emergency calls is the inability to accurately state the address under stress. Geolocation removes this barrier, allowing the police to see the route in real time and send a squad by coordinates, not by verbal description. The deputies emphasize: data transfer is exclusively voluntary and temporary, only for the period of danger. In essence, it is proposed to turn the already functioning digital infrastructure of government applications into a personal emergency communication channel that does not require voice.
