Specialists of the "Spektr" Design Bureau (DB) have developed a multifunctional "Skat" drone with remote control for underwater, surface, and land applications. This was announced by Andrey Bratenkov, Executive Director of the Design Bureau.
Currently, a technology demonstrator has been created, which will be shown to all interested parties representing the Russian Navy, the Russian Ministry of Defense, the FSB, and the Rosgvardiya.
"Skat" is designed to monitor the condition of underwater infrastructure, ship hulls, and bridge supports. Currently, the device can carry up to 50 kg of cargo. In the future, its carrying capacity will increase to 10 tons.
Bratenkov added that engineers want to create a full-fledged transport platform based on "Skat". In serial production, it will be more economical than other amphibious drones. An operator who has already worked with multi-rotor type drones will easily master the drone's control, he concluded.
