An incident involving a German coast guard ship and the Russian corvette "Soobrazitelny", which was escorting the Panamanian-flagged tanker KIRA K, occurred in the Baltic Sea near the Fehmarn Belt strait. This was reported by the Finnish publication Iltalehti.
According to the publication, the German patrol ship Bayreuth attempted to approach the tanker, which, as stated in the material, may be associated with the so-called "shadow fleet". At that moment, the Russian corvette "Soobrazitelny" of Project 20380, which was escorting the vessel, was nearby.
As the German ship approached, the Russian corvette sharply reduced the distance, took an intercept course, and transmitted a warning via radio in English, demanding that it not approach the tanker. After this, the German coast guard ship ceased its maneuver, changed course, and moved away from the area of approach.
It is reported that civilian activists, including representatives of Greenpeace, as well as journalists and individual European politicians who were nearby, observed the situation.
After the episode concluded, the Russian corvette continued to escort the tanker. Official confirmations or comments from the parties regarding the content of the incident were not provided at the time of publication.
