AvtoVAZ under-delivers Lada Iskra: the model made it to the top sales, but the plant produces half of the planned volume

Production volumes are about 100 cars per day instead of the promised 200 due to difficulties with components, claims insider KhaDm

Lada Iskra continues to gain popularity among Russian buyers, according to data from the Avtostat agency. In June, the model took seventh place in sales among all cars in Russia. As of the 25th week of the year, dealers sold 765 units, which allowed the novelty to surpass Niva Travel for the first time and enter the top three among Lada models.

As Tolyatti blogger and former AvtoVAZ engineer KhaDm notes, the increase in sales is due to the plant actively loading dealer sites – expanding the range of colors and configurations. Recently, for example, the production of the Iskra SW station wagon with a 6-speed manual transmission began.

However, according to him, in the future, the station wagon will have all the same configurations as the sedan, except for the most basic one, which should further stimulate demand. At the same time, there is no excess of cars at the factory sites – rather, there is a shortage. The model is produced in a volume of about 100 units per day, although 200 were originally planned.

The insider attributes the reasons to the cooling of the market, as well as to the ongoing difficulties with the supply of components – which is why the Iskra SW is still missing a number of configurations.
