At the third power unit of the Chinese Xudapu NPP, one of the key construction stages has been completed – the facility received control and management systems for the nuclear island. The work was carried out by the Specialized Research Institute of Instrument Engineering (SNIIP), part of Rosatom.
The enterprise manufactured software and hardware systems, performed their supervision of installation, and completed the transfer of equipment to the customer. Currently, specialists at the site are conducting commissioning works to prepare the systems for further operation.
Rosatom reported that similar work is already underway for the fourth power unit of the Xudapu NPP, as well as for the eighth power unit of the Tianwan NPP. According to SNIIP General Director Alexey Nikitin, the enterprise uses a unified approach in implementing several projects with VVER-1200 reactors in China, which allows applying accumulated experience and proven technical solutions at different sites.
The Xudapu NPP is being built in Liaoning province and is considered one of the largest joint projects between Russia and China in nuclear energy. The third and fourth power units with VVER-1200 reactors are being constructed here according to the Russian design. Rosatom is responsible for the design of the nuclear island, the supply of main equipment, as well as support for its installation and commissioning.
