"To die in approvals": The main problem of the Tu-214 turned out not to be money

A source at KAZ explained what prevents a sharp increase in production

After massive investments in the Kazan Aircraft Plant, the main problem in Tu-214 production is no longer money or equipment, but work organization. This opinion was expressed by one of the sources of "Business Online" at the enterprise.

In 2025, Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin instructed Sber CEO German Gref to assess the state of affairs in aircraft manufacturing and develop a new industry management model.

According to the source, if necessary, production could be significantly increased by allocating separate production facilities, attracting specialists in organizing flow production, introducing new quality systems, and modern planning.

If any head of "Tupolev" and KAZ wanted to do this, he would die in approvals at OAK and "Rostec" — we have a problem with people who are willing and able to make complex decisions. And there's no other way — there are no simple ones left.

The enterprise is launching a new mechanical center with more than 100 modern machines, individual workshops are being switched to round-the-clock operation, and the time for wing-to-fuselage mating has already been reduced to two weeks.
