Starting from July 11, 2026, a new procedure for calculating repair costs under OSAGO will come into force in Russia. The Bank of Russia has approved updated rules for forming reference books of average prices for spare parts, consumables, and components, which are used by insurers to determine payments after road accidents.
The regulator has stipulated that the Russian Union of Auto Insurers must approve updated versions of the reference books, taking into account the new requirements, within three months after the changes come into effect.
The updated methodology affects a key element of the OSAGO system – the calculation of the cost of vehicle restoration repairs. It is based on these reference books that insurance companies determine the amount of compensation for affected drivers.
In fact, the changes are aimed at revising the principles for forming base prices used in insurance calculations to bring them closer to the current market value of auto parts and materials.
