Kazan Aircraft Plant (KAZ named after S. P. Gorbunov) has provided the production line for Tu-214 passenger liners with a long-term order portfolio. The key task of the enterprise is to reach the planned volumes of serial production of fully import-substituted airframe components and assemblies.
To eliminate bottlenecks in the supply chain, new workshops equipped with high-tech turning and milling machining centers have been put into operation at the plant.
The main focus during the modernization of the mechanical processing center was on end-to-end process automation. According to Alexey Murylev, head of production at the center, automation affected not only mechanical metal processing but also the final measurement control of finished products.
The introduction of coordinate measuring machines (CMM) and robot controllers made it possible to completely eliminate the human factor when checking tolerances and mating of aviation parts.
