With a significant delay: the main power plant was launched on the "Nikolay Zharkov" passenger ship under construction

Shipbuilders of the Nizhny Novgorod plant "Krasnoye Sormovo" (part of the United Shipbuilding Corporation) have launched the main power plant on the passenger ship "Nikolay Zharkov" (Project 00840 "Karelia"). This was reported by the company's press service.

The cruise liner's power plant consists of 3 main diesel engines, each with a power of 1250 kW, azimuth thrusters, and bow thrusters. The vessel, possessing high maneuverability, is capable of reaching speeds of up to 12 knots.

The four-deck ship "Nikolay Zharkov" is being built for the company "VodokhodЪ". The project began in the spring of 2023. The liner was launched two years later.

It was expected to be put into operation by the end of 2025, but the deadlines were postponed. In June 2026, the "Nikolay Zharkov" was supposed to start its route. However, the shipbuilders of the "Krasnoye Sormovo" plant are again delaying the delivery of the vessel.

Characteristics of the "Nikolay Zharkov" ship:

  • Length — 131 m
  • Width — 13.8 m
