Russian President Vladimir Putin stated that the MC-21 project demonstrates the country's complete independence in creating modern civil aircraft. According to him, this airliner serves as an example of the independent development of the domestic aviation industry.
Complete independence.
The statement was made during a visit to an aviation enterprise in Zhukovsky, where the head of state familiarized himself with the aircraft and evaluated its cockpit. As the president noted, the MC-21 confirms Russia's ability to independently develop and produce modern aviation equipment.
The MC-21 is being created as a new Russian short- and medium-haul passenger aircraft. The new airliner is considered a Russian alternative to foreign models of the same class.
The MC-21 project is considered one of the key directions for the development of Russian civil aviation. After certification is completed, the aircraft is planned to enter serial production and begin deliveries to airlines.
