Former AvtoVAZ engineer and industry insider KhaDm revealed new details about the upcoming start of production of the updated Niva Legend with a 1.8 engine. According to his information, the car plant made an unconventional decision: to release the car in July without some promised options, so as not to delay the start of sales for six months or a year.
This refers to details that caused many questions among fans of the model: diode headlights and taillights, as well as a trunk release button. Next year, AvtoVAZ will carry out another micro-update of the SUV: it will feature a button, headlights, a slightly different radiator grille, and some other minor things, the insider claims.
Ideally, of course, all this should have gone into production in July, but AvtoVAZ again failed to do everything at once, so it decided, instead of postponing production for six months/a year, to release what it has, and then add the missing options.
Recall that the start of production of the updated Lada Niva Legend is scheduled for July 20, 2026. The main change is a new 1.8-liter 8-valve engine, which is already used on the Niva Travel. According to the stated data, the torque increase will be 24 N·m, and a significant part of the traction will be available already from 1000 rpm. In total, more than 100 new and over 60 modernized parts and assemblies are announced as part of the update.
