Submarines and aircraft began to be involved in escorting Russian vessels

Chief of the Main Staff of the Russian Navy Kasatonov: The fleet solves important tasks in the economic interests of the country

Ships, submarines, and naval aviation protect civilian vessels from attack at sea. This was stated by the Chief of the Main Staff of the Russian Navy, Vladimir Kasatonov.

Currently, the fleet is solving very important tasks, primarily in the economic interests of the Russian Federation. We escort ships, saving them from pirate attacks by those who decided they could do anything.

According to him, the aviation is armed with anti-submarine complexes. Kasatonov did not disclose other details about the vessel convoys.

This topic was previously raised by Nikolai Patrushev, head of the Maritime Board (an organization involved in ensuring the protection of national interests in the World Ocean). He explained that in addition to convoying, merchant fleet vessels can request escort by mobile fire groups (VOG).

Currently, Russian Navy ships escort vessels sailing under the Russian flag in particularly dangerous areas of the World Ocean. This includes oil tankers.
