Apple explained the removal of VK apps from the App Store by UK sanctions

VK officially stated that the company is not under any international restrictions

Apple has officially confirmed the reason for removing VK applications from the App Store. As reported by The Verge, the corporation cited the UK sanctions regime and, in addition to removing the applications themselves, blocked developer accounts. This means that the entire stack of VK services, including VKontakte, Odnoklassniki, VK Video, VK Messenger, VK Music, Zen, and Mail, can no longer be downloaded in any country.

In turn, in response to a question from the Russian service of the BBC about the reason for removing VK applications from the App Store on June 25, the company stated that Apple complies with the laws of the jurisdictions in which it operates, including adhering to the rules of the sanctions regime.

VK stated that the platform has never been under sanctions and is not listed in sanction lists. The key technical consequence of the removal will be the inability for iOS users to receive push notifications, but already installed applications will continue to work. The company promised to take all necessary measures to ensure comfortable and secure access to services.

VK stated that the company has never been under sanctions and was not listed in sanction lists. They believe that Apple's actions restrict Russian users' access to popular services.

The Ministry of Digital Development has already appealed to the FAS with a request to check Apple's actions for compliance with Russian legislation.

Earlier, the "Max" messenger was also removed from the App Store. It remained available in RuStore, Google Play, Huawei AppGallery, and other stores.
