Experienced Yak-130M takes to the skies for the first time

The modernized aircraft has become a full-fledged combat machine and received a radar with air-to-air missiles

The experienced Yak-130M aircraft performed its first test flight. The new machine was developed by the United Aircraft Corporation. The tests lasted about 50 minutes, during which the aircraft climbed to an altitude of up to 2 thousand meters and reached a speed of up to 600 km/h. All program points were completed in full, and the operation of the systems caused no complaints.

The first flight was an important stage in the program to create a new generation of domestic combat training aircraft. According to Gennady Abramenkov, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade of Russia, the modernized Yak-130M combines modern technologies, expanded capabilities, and is capable of solving a wide range of tasks in the interests of future operators.

The Yak-130M was created on the basis of the serial Yak-130, but received significantly wider combat capabilities. In addition to pilot training, the aircraft is designed to engage ground and air targets, including heavy unmanned aerial vehicles.

Rostec noted that externally the aircraft is almost indistinguishable from the basic version, but in fact it is a new machine. During development, the requirements of modern combat aviation, the experience of real combat use, and further directions for the development of aviation technology were taken into account.

The modernized Yak-130M was equipped with a modern radar station, new onboard systems, and an expanded weapons complex. The aircraft is capable of using air-to-air and air-to-ground weapons. Thanks to this, it combines the functions of a training aircraft and a light combat aircraft, significantly surpassing the original Yak-130 in capabilities.
