Multi-layered drone defense system to appear in Russia

"Kalashnikov" prepares for serial production of the newest "Krona-E" SAM system

The Kalashnikov Concern is developing a new strategy to combat UAVs based on the principle of echeloned defense with means of detection and physical destruction of drones at different distances. As part of the concept, the company is preparing for serial production of the "Krona-E" anti-aircraft missile system.

Automated complexes of high-speed interceptor drones, striking targets at distances up to 10 km, as well as machine gun systems for combating small drones, can be used at other echelons of defense.

The effective range of the latter against small UAVs is up to 450 m, against larger drones like "Lyutyi" — up to 1.3 km.

Such modules can receive target designation from compact radars and effectively cover the "dead zones" of air defense systems, representatives of "Kalashnikov" emphasized.

Recall that "Krona-E" is equipped with ammunition of 10 anti-aircraft guided missiles: six "Sosna-R" and four 9M333. The readiness time of the vehicle is 10 minutes. The engagement zone is up to 6 km in range and from 0.03 to 3.5 km in altitude.
