Zaporizhzhia NPP switched to normal power supply scheme

Reserve diesel generators put on standby

The Zaporizhzhia NPP has fully restored external power supply and switched to the normal power scheme. As reported by the station's press service, personnel performed the switchover strictly according to regulations after the automation re-energized the plant's own needs. The reserve diesel generators, which were started to maintain safety, have been returned to standby mode.

The station's power supply is provided via the only operational line – "Ferrosplavnaya-1" with a voltage of 330 kV. The main "Dneprovskaya" line at 750 kV remains disconnected since late March due to damage to power line supports. The current restoration of external power supply marks the twentieth instance of complete power loss since the start of the conflict, as recorded by the IAEA.

All six VVER-1000 power units continue to remain in cold shutdown mode. Radiation levels at the site and in the observation zone are within natural values. Thus, Europe's largest nuclear power plant operates in a minimal redundancy mode: if the single 330 kV line fails, diesels are started, which keeps the facility on the brink of cascading shutdown of cooling and control systems.
