All-terrain Transformer: Russian Engineers Create All-Wheel Drive Chassis with Independent Rotation of Each Section

The design allows the wheels to follow the terrain without losing traction

The company "Intellekt" has patented a chassis for a high-mobility vehicle, according to a publication in the Rospatent database. The development is designed for movement over difficult terrain.

The chassis consists of two or more sections, made in the form of boxes. Wheels with independent drives are attached to each side of the sections. The sections are connected via a common longitudinal axis and can rotate around it independently of each other. This allows each wheel to follow the surface terrain, preventing loss of contact with the ground.

Each wheel has its own drive with independent control of speed and direction of rotation. The technical result is the elimination of movable structural elements between the wheels and the frame while maintaining the ability to adapt to the terrain. The patent has already been obtained. The development can be applied in military, rescue, and construction equipment.
