Robot cleaners and baggage tractors: testing of unmanned airfield equipment to be launched at Pulkovo

The use of autonomous machines will save the airport 150 million rubles per year

Pulkovo Airport will be the first in Russia to launch an experimental legal regime for the use of drones on its territory. This was announced by the press service of the airport operator "Air Gates of the Northern Capital".

Members of the Federation Council supported the federal law "On experimental legal regimes in the field of digital and technological innovations". It provides for the possibility of operating unmanned ground equipment, the company's press service explained.

Unmanned baggage tractors and runway cleaning robots will start operating at the airport. Pulkovo's operator expects labor productivity to increase by at least 25%. This will reduce operating costs by 150 million rubles per year.

In October 2025, Cognitive Pilot tested its own autonomous tractors at Pulkovo. The drones transported luggage between the terminal and aircraft.
