The Engineering Center "Ikar" has extended the service life of 40 Airbus A320 family aircraft. By the end of 2026, work is planned to be carried out on 10 more airliners, the company's press service reported.
Ikar noted that maintaining airworthiness will allow the continued operation of a significant portion of the serviceable fleet and preserve the availability of air travel.
With strict adherence to inspection programs and airworthiness maintenance requirements, aircraft can be safely operated for another 10 years or more.
In total, about 250 Airbus A320 aircraft fly in Russia, despite the lack of service support from the manufacturer. The new MC-21-310 will be a direct replacement for them, but serial production will only start in 2027.
"Pervyy Tekhnicheskiy" explained how many MC-21s "Yakovlev" will need to build to meet the needs of airlines. Spoiler - currently, the figure of 250 aircraft seems fantastic.
