Rostov NPP completes largest repair in 25 years: Power unit No. 1 returned to operation ahead of schedule

The work lasted almost three months and was completed 10 days ahead of schedule

At the Rostov NPP, power unit No. 1 has resumed operation after the longest and most extensive overhaul in its entire operating history. On June 16, it was connected to the country's power system and brought to its nominal capacity. The work was completed 10 days ahead of the approved schedule.

The repair campaign was the largest in the 25-year service history of the first power unit. Specialists performed a large volume of technical operations necessary to maintain equipment reliability and further safe operation of the facility.

The first power unit of the Rostov NPP was put into commercial operation in December 2001. It is equipped with a VVER-1000 reactor unit and is one of the key facilities of the southern energy system of Russia. The installed electrical capacity of the unit is more than 1000 MW, and after modernization and certification, it reaches 1041 MW.

The Rostov NPP remains the largest electricity producer in the south of the country. The station operates four power units with VVER-1000 reactors, and their total installed capacity exceeds 4 GW. Electricity is supplied to consumers in the Rostov and Volgograd regions, Krasnodar and Stavropol territories, ensuring the stability of energy supply to the macro-region.
