The newest minesweeper "Polyarny" joined the Northern Fleet: the ship is capable of detecting any mines

The tenth vessel of Project 12700 completed a 2,500 nautical mile transit

The newest Project 12700 mine defense ship "Polyarny" arrived at its permanent base in the city of Polyarny after completing an inter-fleet transit of more than 2,500 nautical miles. The minesweeper was built by the Sredne-Nevsky Shipyard of the United Shipbuilding Corporation for the Russian Navy and joined the Northern Fleet.

According to the ship's command, Project 12700 meets the fleet's current requirements for mine countermeasures. Modern equipment allows for highly effective detection of various mine-like objects, identifying threats both in the water column and on the seabed, while the crew can operate outside the danger zone.

"Polyarny" became the tenth ship of this project built at the Sredne-Nevsky Shipyard of OSK. The Almaz Design Bureau acted as the developer, creating a new generation project for the needs of the Russian Navy.

Minesweepers of this project are equipped with the latest sonar stations, an integrated bridge system, and an automated mine countermeasures control complex. High maneuverability is achieved thanks to a complex of thrusters, and special attention was paid to service conditions and crew accommodation during design.
